The death of 23-year-old former AAP candidate Nandani Bosmia in Gujarat's Rajkot has triggered a big controversy, her family claiming she was murdered and the incident was staged to appear as a suicide.
Bosmia, who had earlier contested Jetpur-Navagadh municipal elections on an AAP ticket, was found dead in her apartment on Monday evening. The first police inquiry suggests death by hanging, but her family has vehemently disputed that claim, saying her live-in partner was harassing, assaulting, and ultimately killed her.
The case has attracted a lot of attention across Gujarat because of Bosmia’s political background as well as the serious allegations made by her relatives.
Body discovered in Rajkot Apartment. According to police, Bosmia was found hanging in the hall of her fifth-floor flat after family members became concerned when they were unable to contact her.
When phone calls were not answered, relatives asked an acquaintance to check on her welfare. The acquaintance arrived at the apartment and found the door partially open and found Bosmia unconscious inside the home.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, but medical personnel declared her dead. The body was shifted for post-mortem examination and preliminary investigations conducted at the scene.
Family Accusations of Harassment and Abuse .The case turned very dramatic when Bosmia's family accused her live-in partner Aslam Hussain Sama of constant harassment and physical abuse.
According to her father, Bosmia met Sama for the first time when she was living in a house owned by him in Junagadh as a tenant. They developed a relationship later and the two began to live together in Rajkot.
Family members say their relationship had deteriorated over the last few months. Frequent disputes erupted because Sama still had ties with his wife despite living with Bosmia. The family also claimed Bosmia had repeatedly told them about physical assaults and emotional distress.
According to her relatives, she had just left the shared residence at the time of the argument and temporarily lived with family members before returning to the flat shortly before her death.
Allegations of Murder
Bosmia's father has accused Sama of murdering his daughter and then hanging her body to make the death seem like a suicide. Bosmia also had to contend with threats and harassment from some of Sama’s relatives, and she had been attacked in Junagadh during the previous disputes, the family alleged.

Officials said the couple was in a live-in relationship and had a history of disputes. But investigators have said they have yet to determine what caused Bosmia's death.
