A shocking murder case has come to light from Tumakuru city, where a 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by the former husband of a woman he was living with. The accused has been arrested by the police, who are continuing their investigation into the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Dastagir (26). According to police officials, Dastagir had worked with the accused, Ghouse (45), nearly two years ago. During that period, he became acquainted with Ghouse’s wife. Investigators believe the woman had reportedly shared details of the difficulties and harassment she was facing in her marriage with Dastagir. Over time, the two developed a close relationship that later turned into a romantic one.
Police said that around one and a half years ago, Dastagir left with the woman and the pair planned to get married after obtaining the consent of their respective family members. In the meantime, the woman legally divorced Ghouse and began living separately with Dastagir in a house located in Janata Colony, Tumakuru.
However, according to preliminary investigations, tensions between the parties did not end after the divorce. Police stated that Ghouse allegedly continued to harass the couple on several occasions. The situation escalated dramatically on September 16, when Ghouse reportedly arrived at the residence where the woman and Dastagir were staying.
Authorities allege that the accused attempted to attack the woman with a knife during a confrontation. As the situation unfolded, Dastagir reportedly intervened to protect her. During the altercation, Ghouse is accused of stabbing Dastagir multiple times with the knife before fleeing the scene.
The severely injured Dastagir was immediately rushed to the Tumakuru District Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, a criminal case was registered at the Tumakuru Town Police Station, and an investigation was launched to trace the accused.
Police teams conducted a search operation and successfully arrested Ghouse in connection with the attack. While the investigation was underway, Dastagir continued to receive treatment at the hospital. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries, turning the case into a murder investigation.
Officials have stated that they are gathering further evidence, recording witness statements, and examining all aspects of the case to establish the sequence of events leading to the fatal attack. The police are also verifying the background of the dispute and the circumstances surrounding the relationship between the individuals involved.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing concern over the violent nature of the crime.
