The global household name has a formal stake in an overseas distribution market and is going to launch its international distribution campaign with the Ram Charan-starring film ‘Peddi’. It’s strategically a big deal for Hombale Films, which has matured from one of India’s towering film giants in Kannada to one of the largest pan-Indian film banners in India.

Founded as a business by producer Vijay Kiragandur, the company has been producing widespread cinematic experiences that have led to the further proliferation of Sandalwood globally. In Peddi, Hombale is not simply a supporting cast for a movie; it’s a testing ground for the company in international theatrical distribution.

In a massive increase, the company is said to process the movie’s release overseas before it would even be classified as a foreign product. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi has already triggered huge hype among filmgoers thanks to its rustic action backdrop, gritty narrative, and Ram Charan’s gritty mass avatar.

The soundtrack is courtesy of Oscar-winning music composer A. R. Rahman, and there’s excitement, too. Shiva Rajkumar was also a very big differentiator of the movie, a very important man, a pivotal figure in the movie. It remains an interesting watch for the Kannada superstar's role in building on the narrative.

The Ram Charan/Shivanna collaboration with the Kannada star has already received tons of word-of-mouth in South India. Hombale Films became a national cinema as Kannada films started to reach overseas, thanks to the KGF movie & other Kannadas like Kantara.

With Kantara, the production house marketed coastal Karnataka’s culture and folklore internationally. Because, in the Indian film market, the company will have an attraction in its marketing strategy to pursue an expansion into overseas distribution because it understands the company’s voice will reign supreme, insiders add.

If Peddi succeeds around the globe, under Hombale’s distribution network, it may one day be one of the important international distributors of films, too. By June 4, however, the film is scheduled for an international release, and with Hombale Films apparently pushing aggressively to set up an overseas campaign in major overseas markets like the US, UK, the Middle East and Australia in stages.

Trade analysts say the delivery of the distribution project will help bigger pan-Indian films with larger budgets partner with Hombale in the run-up to the next release date. As regards his overseas success, Peddi would need to be backed by the company’s strong brand, audience confidence and marketing network, he said.

In doing so, and because it’s strategically decided to do the same way, Hombale Films is well positioned to take it one step further by pushing Kannada cinema's international film direction forward in becoming the best Indian film maker in the region.
