Ram Charan’s eagerly awaited sports drama Peddi has stormed the box office, becoming the biggest Telugu film opener of 2026. The high-budget entertainer was also produced by Buchi Babu Sana, and it earned Rs 69.5 crore in India net on its first day and even paid previews.
Peddi was released in 5 languages - Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam - in 6,647 theatres across India with a budget of around Rs 350 crore. Ram Charan’s amazing opening has revived the box office power of the film and created great buzz among the audience and industry analysts alike.
Massive Start with Paid Previews
It started with paid preview shows on June 3 and had a total net collection of Rs 18.5 crore in India. The audience reaction was so huge, and there was a lot of anticipation surrounding the film, so the audience rushed to theatres even before the official release.
On its official opening day, Peddi added another Rs 51 crore in India net to the total Day 0 and Day 1 collection to Rs 69.5 crore. The Telugu version was the biggest contributor, while dubbed versions also scored huge in the various markets.
The great opening has been a big bonus for Ram Charan, whose last movie, Game Changer, was not exactly a box office hit, and hence he has been able to bounce back with Peddi and make one of the biggest openings of his career.
Chiranjeevi Calls It A Blockbuster
The film received special appreciation from megastar Chiranjeevi, who watched the movie even though he was busy shooting for his new film in Pollachi.
Chiranjeevi posted on social media to congratulate everyone in the cast and crew and called Peddi a “blockbuster.” He especially thanked his son Ram Charan for his dedication and commitment during the two years of production.
Chiranjeevi says Ram Charan completely immersed himself in the role and brought authenticity and sincerity to every scene, which is clearly visible on screen.
Pawan Kalyan's Emotional Message
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan also extended his congratulations. A very emotional message made public on Pawan Kalyan Creative Works page was that he said Peddi is a story of courage, perseverance and determination.
Pawan Kalyan praised director Buchi Babu Sana for bringing rural culture and sporting spirit into mainstream cinema. He also emotionally talked about how Ram Charan grew from a kid into a worldwide superstar and was proud of his achievements.
A Star-Studded Cast Adds to Appeal
Apart from Ram Charan, Peddi has also an impressive ensemble cast of Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani and Ravi Kishan.
Peddi will have a very strong opening weekend with very good word of mouth, a positive audience response and industry veterans’ support. Trade analysts are wondering if the film will still be able to survive and become one of the top 10 highest earners of Telugu cinema.
Peddi has now delivered exactly what the fans wanted—a big opening and a great success story for Ram Charan at the box office.
