The operation was initiated under the orders of V. C. Sajjanar, who directed law enforcement officials to intensify monitoring and take strict action against habitual offenders. As part of the coordinated drive, around 250 rowdy sheeters were taken into custody for medical examination and drug testing.

Police officials confirmed that out of those tested, 190 individuals were found to have consumed narcotic substances. Following the results, these individuals were referred to de-addiction centres for further treatment and rehabilitation. Authorities stated that the objective of the drive is not only enforcement but also recovery and reform.

According to official data, there are approximately 1,300 identified rowdy sheeters operating across Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The recent operation is part of a broader strategy to curb criminal activities and drug abuse among habitual offenders in the region.

Officials have indicated that such special drives will continue in the coming weeks as part of an ongoing effort to improve public safety and reduce crime linked to substance abuse. The police department is also strengthening surveillance mechanisms to monitor the activities of known offenders more closely.

Senior police officers emphasized that drug abuse among rowdy sheeters often contributes to a cycle of crime, and addressing substance dependence is seen as a key step toward reducing repeat offenses. The rehabilitation approach aims to combine strict enforcement with medical and psychological support.

The initiative has been widely discussed among law enforcement circles, as it reflects a shift towards a dual approach of policing and rehabilitation. Authorities believe that consistent enforcement drives, combined with treatment programs, will help reduce the overall crime rate in the twin cities.

Public reaction has been mixed, with many appreciating the proactive steps taken by Hyderabad Police, while others have called for more long-term rehabilitation infrastructure to ensure lasting impact.

Officials confirmed that another similar drive is being planned soon, with expanded coverage and stricter monitoring of known offenders.
