Karnataka is also experiencing a sharp spike in temperatures as the summer heat continues to heat up across the state. Many districts have seen temperatures reach or exceed record highs or above-normal levels, leading weather officials to caution some during the afternoon hours of the day.
So with the scorching temperatures, there still appear to be some respite as portions of the state would get light rains. For Bengaluru today, weather is supposed to be hot and slightly humid with peak temperatures between 35°C and 37°C.
But even if there are partly cloudy skies, the city is unlikely to cool off any from that, and people are not going to get enough from a surge in levels of heat. It is worse in northern interior areas. Such areas as Kalaburagi, Raichur, Ballari and Vijayapura are likely to get temperatures above 40°C, making them some of the hottest areas in the state at any given point in time.
Residents in these districts have been instructed to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities all through the afternoon. Coastal areas like Mangaluru, Udupi and Karwar, meanwhile, will have high temperatures and humidity combined. They’ll expect heat and moisture in the air to generate higher levels of discomfort it will feel hotter than it actually is.
Some relief is, however, expected from the Malnad region. Districts Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu will probably experience light to moderate amounts of rainfall at night and in evening. Mysuru and Mandya could also see similar weather, as light showers can offer a brief break from the heat. Here are the expected temperatures in key regions here:
- Bengaluru: 36°C / 22°C.
- Kalaburagi: 42°C / 26°C.
- Mangaluru: 34°C / 25°C.
- Shivamogga: 37°C / 23°C.
- Hubballi-Dharwad: 39°C / 24°C.
Nowadays, weather patterns are being influenced by the clear skies and heavy solar emission, which is leading to the rise in daytime temperatures. No widespread rainfall has exacerbated heat in many regions, too. Health experts and officials are advising citizens to take care of heat-related diseases.
The recommended measures include wearing light clothing, keeping plenty hydrated and refusing to expose oneself for extended periods to direct sunlight. A few localized pockets of isolated rainfall will probably be somewhat helpful over the next few days, but the general climate hints that conditions likely remain pretty hot across Karnataka. Stays warm so as to handle the ongoing summer temperatures are made clear to residents: they should be aware of local weather reports and follow safety guidelines as well.
