Authorities have imposed a temporary ban on liquor sales in parts of Bengaluru ahead of the annual Huskur Madduramma Jatra and Dharmaraya Swamy Jatra Mahotsava in Huskur.
The order applies to areas under the jurisdiction of Parappana Agrahara and Hebbagodi police stations. According to officials, liquor sales will remain prohibited from 6:00 AM on March 14 until 11:00 PM on March 15.
The directive was issued by Seemant Kumar Singh, who ordered the closure of liquor outlets in the specified areas during the festival period to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
Under the order, all bars and restaurants selling liquor must remain closed during the restriction period. However, clubs and star hotels have been exempted from the ban.
Police officials stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure during the large religious gathering, which attracts thousands of devotees every year. Authorities aim to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the festival celebrations proceed peacefully.
The Huskur Madduramma Jatra is one of the prominent local temple festivals in the region, where devotees gather for rituals, processions, and community celebrations. Security arrangements have also been strengthened in and around the village to manage crowds and maintain order during the festivities.
Residents and visitors have been requested to cooperate with the police and follow the temporary restrictions during the festival period.
