Kayalvizhi, daughter of former Union Minister and senior political leader MK Alagiri, has been accused by Chennai Police of assaulting an SBI worker in a commercial property in Chennai. Police officials said Kayalvizhi was involved in the dispute at a commercial building she owned in Chennai's Adyar locality, where an SBI branch is located. The dispute started when the bank manager said that the elevator in the building was broken down and that any repairs had to be made to ensure the safety and convenience of customers and staff.
The conversation between the bank manager and Kayalvizhi gradually turned into a heated argument, officials said. CCTV footage from the premises allegedly shows Kayalvizhi sitting in an office with another person while speaking to the bank manager. As the discussion intensified, she is seen suddenly standing up and slapping the manager during the exchange.
The footage became a crucial piece of evidence in the investigation after the alleged assault. The bank manager told senior officials about the incident. Based on his account of the events, the chief manager of the SBI branch lodged a formal complaint with the police.
Police sources said that the complaint detailed the sequence of events leading to the altercation and accused Kayalvizhi of physically assaulting the bank official while he was performing his professional duties. The complaint was reviewed, and CCTV footage was examined, and then a case was filed against her under multiple legal provisions.

Investigators have confirmed that a case has been filed under four sections of the law. But police have not yet disclosed the specific provisions under which the case has been registered.
