Narendra Modi on Friday shared his second Instagram reel within 24 hours, thanking citizens for the huge response to his earlier video on the NEET paper leak and the government’s proposed crackdown on examination fraud.
In a short video, PM Modi thanked people for their support, feedback and suggestions after his selfie-style video on Thursday night went viral all day on social media.
"Thank you friends. Last night I had the opportunity to talk to you. Thank you for the way you answered the video I posted and for your positive suggestions. Thanks to everybody. I can only hope your love and support would continue to be there and that we have a bond that only grows stronger and more active. Thank you. Thank you, friends,” the Prime Minister said.
The message came just hours after PM Modi voiced his concerns over the NEET paper leak and assured students and their families that the government would take more action against those involved in examination fraud.
Early in his previous video, the Prime Minister said paper leaks were a matter of serious concern for lakhs of students and their families. He also announced that tougher measures would be taken by the Union Cabinet to curb examination malpractice and ensure better accountability.
The Prime Minister’s first Instagram video on the issue also received a lot of interest online. The video, titled “More strict actions against paper leaks to come in tomorrow’s Cabinet!” had more than 300 million views on social media. The post also helped PM Modi gain nearly 1 million Instagram followers in less than 24 hours.
The development took place at a key Cabinet meeting at which the Prime Minister is said to have asked Union ministers to strengthen the government’s presence on social media and to expand public outreach on digital platforms.
PM Modi’s increased engagement on Instagram is a significant change in the way political communication is being used to reach younger audiences and directly address issues of public concern. His latest reel, posted one day after the earlier video, just underlines the increasing importance of social media for the government’s public communication strategy.
The problem of examination fraud has become very worrying for students preparing for competitive exams. And now that the Prime Minister has said the government will go further and take action against paper leaks, examination security will be improved, monitoring shall be better and there will be strict punishment for malpractice.
