Tea garden families in Assam do so constantly and in challenging conditions to produce the tea which is enjoyed throughout the world. These people labor for hours to pluck tea leaves, keep growing and produce at their jobs to ensure we produce them well. Yet even in this way, the love of action is very strong among them and generations of families have been doing all they could to make tea not only a product, but an essence of Assam's heritage.

Here in Dibrugarh, one of Assam’s popular tea areas, some of the gardens show the resilience these communities possess. But they have to balance the demands of family life and work for the state’s people and culture. Noting how extraordinary people can make a difference is part of their heroism.

The Prime Minister’s acknowledgment has drawn national attention to the tea garden families. It’s to recognize how they contributed to the growth of Assam’s identity and economy. And so much of this appreciation has spurred a feeling of pride in these employees, for people to know they are appreciated for all that they do. And it brings a discussion about the development that is going on in these parts of the state and the accessibility and quality of education and healthcare to families who are poor.

And while family members in the tea garden and their families are widely celebrated for their contributions, there are other challenges such as a lack of wages, education, and healthcare access that matter as well. We have to get over these problems to celebrate their contributions. By giving the people from them better opportunities, better life opportunities, better jobs, better opportunities both positively affect Assam’s tea scene and are good for the people of Assam and the entire tea business so it can also keep going better.

The story of the tea garden families in Assam is one of fighting, dignity, and pride. This work can be very much seen from Dibrugarh as a symbol of identity and strength in the state. It is very important to acknowledge their contributions but what we have to build here is the welfare and development of many kids. Assam’s pride lies on their shoulders, and for their efforts to be respected and supported.
