The projects are the Churu-Sadulpur (58 km) and Churu-Ratangarh (46 km) rail doubling works covering 104 km. Built at an estimated cost of around ₹900 crore, the projects will drastically improve the movement of passenger and freight trains and reduce congestion on one of Rajasthan's key railway corridors.

The rail doubling projects were inaugurated during the Prime Minister's visit to Balotra, where he launched and laid the foundation stone for multiple development initiatives worth approximately ₹ 1.06 lakh crore across sectors such as railways, roads, metro rail, renewable energy, petrochemicals and power transmission.

The newly doubled railway lines will make the existing network much better; trains will run simultaneously in both directions and thus reduce the delays which will make the transportation system more efficient.

The infrastructure upgrade will also help freight movement, especially for industries and businesses operating in north-west Rajasthan. Improved rail connectivity is expected to facilitate faster transportation of goods, lower logistics costs and boost industrial growth.

The government also said the development of trains will also help in reducing single line operations and shorter waiting time for crossing trains. And it will help Indian Railways to be able to accommodate more trains, and therefore to operate faster and more reliably.

Besides the transportation benefits, the projects could create employment opportunities as well as investment across the Churu region. Better railway infrastructure will also boost agriculture, trade, manufacturing and tourism and link them to big markets across the country.

The rail doubling projects are part of the Centre’s larger strategy to modernise India’s railway network through capacity enhancement, electrification and infrastructure expansion. In recent years, the government has accelerated investment in railway projects aimed at improving safety, reducing travel time and supporting economic development.

In addition to the railway projects, Prime Minister Modi also launched many other important projects during his Rajasthan visit. That includes the inauguration of India's first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Pachpadra, the foundation stone for Phase 2 of the Jaipur Metro, the inauguration of Jodhpur Airport's new terminal building, launch of Modified UDAN Scheme, major renewable energy projects in Bikaner and new power transmission lines to strengthen Rajasthan's renewable energy facilities.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the four-laning of NH-125A Jodhpur Ring Road Section-2 which will further improve road connectivity in the region.

The completion of the Churu-Sadulpur and Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projects marks another milestone in the railway modernisation program in India. With more line capacity, improved efficiency and improved safety, the projects are expected to play a vital role in supporting economic growth and improving the travel experience for passengers in Rajasthan.
