Narendra Modi on Saturday will be on a three-day state visit to Seychelles where he will attend the island nation's Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour and hold high-level bilateral talks aimed at strengthening India-Seychelles relations.
This trip will take place from June 27 to June 29 and will be held at a time of significance as both countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. It is also Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Seychelles since 2015 and follows the State visit of Seychelles President Patrick Herminie to India earlier this year.
Before leaving, Modi said Seychelles was one of India's most important maritime partners in the Indian Ocean and reiterated New Delhi's commitment to fostering cooperation between the two countries under Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
"Leaving for Seychelles, where I will take part in their National Day celebrations. This year it is even more special as it is the Golden Jubilee celebrations," the Prime Minister wrote on X.
Focus on Maritime Security and Bilateral Cooperation
As he departed the country Modi said India and Seychelles share a long-standing relationship based on ‘mutual trust, common democratic values, respect for diversity, and people-to-people relations’.
He was confident that discussions with President Patrick Herminie would enhance cooperation in maritime security, economic development, technology, capacity building and regional stability.
"Together, we will work to advance the progress of our peoples and promote security and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region," Modi said.
They said Seychelles is still a vital maritime neighbour of India and plays an important role in New Delhi's strategic engagement with the Indian Ocean Region and the Global South.
In addition, the Indian Armed Forces and two Indian Navy ships will also be part of Seychelles’ National Day celebrations to highlight the growing defence and security cooperation between the two countries.

Historic Address to Seychelles National Assembly
A major highlight of the visit will be Prime Minister Modi becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles.
Modi said the address represents the democratic values and parliamentary traditions of both countries and is a historic opportunity.
And the Prime Minister said he is looking forward to interacting with the dynamic Indian community that is present in Seychelles and that is a living bridge that has cemented the relationship between the two countries for generations.
The visit is expected to enhance cooperation in defence, maritime security, trade, education, regional development and to underscore India’s commitment to a secure, peaceful and prosperous Indian Ocean Region.
As India is increasingly seeking strategic partnerships in the Indian Ocean, Modi's visit to Seychelles will add new momentum to bilateral ties and reaffirm the island nation’s role in India’s regional and global reach.
