Tamil actor Ravi Mohan has found himself in the center of an unfortunate set-up after his driver was arrested for the theft of cash and valuables from the actor’s residence in Chennai. Although police have recovered ₹2.5 lakh in cash, they are still searching for a diamond necklace valued at about ₹10 lakh, which is not located.
The investigation has attracted broad attention from the Tamil film industry, and police are still investigating the theft and the circumstances of the jewellery.
The complaint was filed when assets were stolen
Ravi Mohan discovered that cash and valuables were missing from his home in Injambakkam, Chennai, on June 22, according to media reports. Ravi Mohan filed a complaint with the Neelankarai Police Station, and officials soon started an investigation.
Police first registered a Community Service Register (CSR) entry before investigating the incident thoroughly. Officers questioned everyone at the actor’s residence, including domestic staff and drivers, to identify the person involved.
Suspicion Falls on Driver
In the course of the investigation, suspicion fell on Rajesh, who had been employed as the driver of Ravi Mohan.
Police intensified their questioning, and Rajesh allegedly admitted to misappropriating ₹2.5 lakh in cash from the actor’s home. The amount was later recovered by authorities and returned to Ravi Mohan.
Rajesh was arrested on theft charges following the confession. He was brought in and taken to a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody until further investigation.
Diamond Necklace Yet to Be Found
While investigators were able to get the cash back, the diamond necklace worth ₹10 lakh has gone missing.
The jewellery is still in the possession of investigators, and they are looking for any other persons involved in the theft, police said.
At this point, the missing necklace is not disclosed, nor are there any new arrests.
Ravi Mohan's Name Change
The incident comes more than a year after the actor’s professional identity changed.
In January last year, Ravi Mohan announced that he would no longer use the screen name Jayam Ravi. He would use his birth name, Ravi Mohan, instead.
In a social media post, he disclosed that cinema and the film industry helped him to think about and grow and become a filmmaker, and thanked audiences and the film industry. “Jayam Ravi” had become the name that came to be associated with the actor after the success of his first film, Jayam, in 2003.
Busy Schedule Despite Personal Setback
Ravi Mohan, however, as far as the police investigation is concerned, is not distracted and continues to go on with his business.
He is going to have some of the most anticipated movies in the future with Karathey Babu, Genie, and Bro Code—and their production is on the way. He recently starred in the Tamil political action drama Parasakthi, directed by the noted filmmaker Sudha Kongara, and the audience loved his performance.

Investigation Continues
Police have said that the investigation continues and is still ongoing to retrieve the diamond necklace and establish the whole story.
With the recovered cash, the good news is that authorities are still searching for evidence, and the bad news is that they’re not done, so they’re going to get to the bottom of it.
Ravi Mohan's fans have rallied around him on social media, and his fans are waiting to see the remaining valuables recovered and to get the matter resolved quickly. From the Chennai police’s perspective, more information about the missing jewellery and any further findings in the case will be provided as law enforcement moves forward.
