The accident occurred near Ariyanur, close to Uthamasolapuram on a national highway, when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus traveling from Coimbatore to Salem veered off its lane. The bus, carrying over 40 passengers, crossed the central divider and entered the opposite lane, leading to a devastating collision.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the bus crashing head-on into a tempo-style goods auto and a two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. The impact was severe, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries at the scene.

According to reports, more than 10 members of a single family were traveling in the goods auto at the time of the accident. They were reportedly returning home after attending a function when the tragedy struck. The collision caused extensive damage to the vehicles, leaving little chance for those directly hit.

Emergency services rushed to the spot immediately after the accident. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, while authorities began rescue and recovery operations. Police officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether driver error, mechanical failure, or other factors were involved.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, especially on busy highways. Authorities are expected to review safety measures and take action to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.

This heartbreaking accident has left families shattered and serves as a grim reminder of the importance of responsible driving and stringent safety checks in public transport systems.
