February 11, 2026 | New Delhi Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy today addressed the 60th ACMA Excellence Awards as well as the 11th Technology Summit, marking a new dawn for the automotive component industry in India. The ceremony was part of a six-decade history of manufacturing excellence, innovation and the sector’s deepening technology base.
Growth in Vehicle Manufacturing and Exports
Demonstrating that the automotive ecosystem is on the ascent and developing rapidly under the inspiring leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he said India’s vehicle manufacturing has increased a lot from 28.4 million vehicles to nearly 31 million units. Exports have also grown from 4.5 million to more than 5.3 million units, a testimony to the size, strength and burgeoning global competitiveness of India’s industry. He stressed that the Ministry of Heavy Industries has been central in this evolution.
Key Initiatives Driving the Sector
Key initiatives like the ₹26,000 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Automobiles and Auto Components, ₹18,100 crore PLI for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Batteries and the development of Rare Earth Corridors, are solidifying the country’s manufacturing backbone and also moving the dial on a faster transition to transport for the future.
Launch of New Industry Programs
Along with the opening of key industry initiatives featured in the summit, the Minister welcomed the launch of Bharat Mobility Component & Technology Show 2027 along with the “Bolts, Bits & Bytes: Factory of the Future” and the ACMA Excellence Awards Special Issue – IMPACT. These, he said, show the sector’s preparedness for future-ready supply chains, digital manufacturing and cutting-edge technologies.
In closing remarks, Shri Kumaraswamy remarked that India will not just be joining into the global value chains by integrating it, but is in a position to lead them.
