There was a tragic incident in the village of Hanumanahalli in the taluk of Sira in the Tumakuru district, where a newly married couple was discovered dead at the same time. The police have taken action to investigate the cause of the deaths and have registered an unnatural death report (UDR) to investigate.
The deceased have been identified as Sharanya (20) and her husband Girish (28). According to initial information, they were married only four months ago.
Police said Sharanya was found dead by suicide in the couple's house at a time when no other family member was present. Girish, who allegedly discovered his wife's death, left the house and was found dead by suicide after hanging himself from a tree near an agricultural field.
The two deaths have left the village in shock, and relatives and local people gathered on the scene after the incident became known.
The exact reason behind the deaths is still not clear, and investigators are still mulling all the possible angles. Police did not say yet if any suicide note was recovered or if there were personal, financial, or family problems that may have contributed to the incident.
Personnel from the Pattanayakanahalli Police Station visited both locations, conducted a spot inspection, and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. Statements from family members, neighbours, and other persons known to the couple will be recorded in the course of the investigation.
A UDR (Unnatural Death Report) has been registered, and more investigation is being done into the events and circumstances that led to the deaths. Police will only come to conclusions once all the evidence is out there, like post-mortem information and witness statements.
The incident has deeply saddened the local community, especially because the couple had only recently started their married life. Residents are grieving for the loss and waiting for the outcome of the police investigation.
The police have suggested that the public not conjecture about the cause and not use unverified information on social media, as it will harm the investigation.
If you or someone you know is feeling emotional distress or thoughts of self-harm, a good mental health professional will be able to help you. Local emergency services and suicide prevention help are also available.
