A domestic dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district turned fatal after a woman allegedly strangled her husband with a towel, the police said. Preeti was arrested after an investigation by post-mortem examinations revealed that her husband Krishna Kumar died due to strangulation. The incident happened on Monday night in Bahlimpura village under Kotwali Nagar police station area.
The couple had been married for 16 years and had three children -- two sons and an eight-year-old daughter named Mansi, said police. Krishna Kumar worked in farming and animal husbandry and lived in the village with his family. Police are investigating the reason for his death, including allegations of frequent disputes between the couple.
Family Alleges Frequent Disputes
The case came to light after Krishna Kumar’s mother, Angoori Devi, approached the police. In her complaint, she claimed that her son and Preeti frequently argued over domestic disputes. She said Krishna Kumar suspected his wife of having an alleged extramarital relationship and opposed her spending long periods of time talking on the phone.
The allegations were made by the victim’s family and have never been independently established. Police are looking into the possibility of motive behind the death.
Angoori Devi also alleged that Preeti had physically assaulted Krishna Kumar on earlier occasions. On that note, investigators will have to verify these claims and see if there was a history of violence between the couple.
Mother Reportedly Heard Disturbance
Krishna Kumar was at home with Preeti and their young daughter on the night of the incident. His mother was sleeping nearby when she heard a disturbance at around 11 pm.
When she got to the house, she found Krishna Kumar lying unconscious. According to her family, Preeti told her the couple had been in an argument. A local doctor was soon called and Krishna Kumar was declared dead.
The next day, relatives arrived at the house and saw marks around Krishna Kumar’s neck. This raised suspicion about the nature of his death and the family contacted the police.
Police officers reached the location and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. There was a report that Krishna Kumar had died due to strangulation, and police immediately arrested Preeti in connection with the case.

Allegations over Towel and Alcohol
The victim’s nephew, Pradeep Rajput, claimed that Preeti had given Krishna Kumar money to purchase alcohol before this incident. He said she later took advantage of his intoxicated state and strangled him with a towel.
These claims are part of the allegations of the victim’s relatives and will need to be established through the police investigation and evidence presented in the case.
The family also said Preeti wanted to sell Krishna Kumar’s property and leave with another man. They said some property and buffaloes had already been sold. Police are investigating these allegations to determine whether they have any connection with the alleged killing.
Police Probe Motive
The arrest followed the post-mortem findings, but the precise sequence of events is being examined. Police are reviewing the statements of family members and other witnesses, along with the post-mortem report and other available evidence.
Investigators will also try to establish what happened inside the house just before Krishna Kumar was found unconscious and whether there was a physical fight that erupted.
The circumstances of the alleged affair, property claims, and prior accusations of violence are also being examined as possible factors in the case. But none of those allegations can be treated as established facts unless evidence is gathered in the investigation or proved in court.
The death has put the couple’s three children at the center of the investigation. Police are continuing to gather evidence and record statements to establish the facts of the case. Further legal action will depend on the evidence collected and the findings of the investigation.
