A video spreading widely on social media has caused controversy because it allegedly showed Satyam Pandit (national president of an organisation called Hindu Veer Sena) standing between two young men who were returning from the recent protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The video (which was shared by Pandit on his own social media account before it went viral) appears to show Pandit asking the two students their names, religion and their reasons for coming to the protest. It has been widely shared on social media, and several political leaders and social media users have called for action against those involved.

Pandit repeatedly asked the students why they had attended the gathering, the video said. He asked about their religion and “why they had participated if they identified as Hindus.” He said anti-national slogans were raised during the protest and challenged them as to why they had been there.
One of the youths is seen explaining that he is a BSc student from Bareilly who had travelled to Delhi to visit his sister and had stopped at the protest site out of curiosity to see what was happening. The student is also seen trying to explain his position during the interaction.
The footage also seems to show Pandit repeatedly telling the student to lower his hand while he speaks. Moments later, he is seen extending his hand from a car window and allegedly slapping the young man. The student seems shaken up in the video.
At the end of the video, the two youths are asked if they will attend such protests again. Both answer in the negative and are seen apologising while facing the camera after being warned not to return to similar demonstrations.
The video has generated widespread discussion on social media, with many users expressing concern over the alleged intimidation and assault. Some public figures and political leaders have called for an investigation and appropriate legal action.
Delhi Police, however, said no complaint was received from either of the two youths at that time. A senior police officer said, in the absence of a complaint, no case has been registered so far.
There is no immediate indication if the authorities will take any action independently or investigate the viral video further. Under Indian law, in some cases, police may file a case based on available evidence even without a victim’s complaint, depending on the nature of the offence and legal terms.
The authenticity of the viral video and the full circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established by an independent investigation. The matter is currently the subject of public debate, and police have said no formal complaint has been filed by the people seen in the footage.
