The administrative reshuffle comes days after Pooja Singh had gone to Mahila Police Station in Patna and alleged that her husband and in-laws were harassing her. She also claimed Bhanu Pratap Singh was preventing her from meeting or speaking to their six year old daughter.

As per the latest administrative order, Shailendra Singh, who was SP Sheohar, has been given the new responsibility of Khagaria SP, while Mohibullah Ansari is made SP Sheohar.

Wife Files Harassment Complaint Against IPS Officer

The controversy erupted after Pooja Singh went to Mahila Police Station in Patna late on Monday night and lodged a complaint against her husband and his family members.

In her complaint, she accused them of harassment and said that she was prevented from seeing her young daughter.

Police officials said they had received the complaint but that an FIR hadn’t been filed at the time of the statement because the matter was still being investigated.

Bihar Secretariat official Anu Kumari said the authorities had received the complaint and were looking into the allegations.

“We have received the complaint, but so far no FIR has been registered. The matter is under investigation,” she said.

The police should look into the allegations first before deciding on further action.

Pooja Singh Protests Outside Bihar Chief Minister's Residence

Before going to the police, Pooja Singh had protested outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna, demanding government intervention in the marital dispute.

When she spoke to reporters she reportedly said that she didn’t want a divorce and hoped to get her relationship with her husband and daughter back on track.

She pleaded for help, saying that she did not want to end the marriage but wanted to resolve family dispute.

Pooja Singh also went to police headquarters in Patna to express her concern and seek help from senior officers.

She reportedly said she would withdraw her police complaint if her husband agreed to settle the dispute and address her concerns.

Claims About Marriage and Family Dispute

Speaking about her relationship with the IPS officer, Pooja Singh said she married Bhanu Pratap Singh in 2016 when he was preparing for civil services examinations and was not employed.

Bhanu Pratap Singh subsequently joined the Indian Police Service (batch 2021).

The dispute has been in the news because of the officer’s position in state police administration and allegations by his wife.

However, the allegations are still being investigated, and no conclusion has been reached publicly on the claims.

Bihar Government Announces Police Transfers

Amid the controversy, the Bihar government has shifted Bhanu Pratap Singh to police headquarters in Patna.

The government has appointed Shailendra Singh as the new Khagaria SP and Mohibullah Ansari as Sheohar SP.

The transfer has brought the family dispute into focus again but the official transfer order and investigation of the complaint are administrative and legal issues.

Bhanu Pratap Singh Yet to Respond

Bhanu Pratap Singh has not commented publicly on the allegations made by his wife so far.

The police have said that the complaint has been received and that the matter is being investigated. An FIR had not been registered at the time of the official statement.

Next steps will depend on what the investigation finds and what further action authorities take.

The case has highlighted the difficulties faced when allegations about the personal lives of serving senior police officers come before law enforcement authorities. For now, the investigation is ongoing, and allegations against the IPS officer have not been established.
