Arjun Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar's son, has gradually built up his own life in cricket over the years. His surname certainly attracts a lot of attention, but Arjun worked to carve out a place for himself as a potential left-arm medium-fast bowler and a reliable left-handed batter. His path is one of patience, hard work and coming out of his father’s shadow.
Mumbai-born on 24 September 1999, Arjun was born and raised around cricket. He learned at the renowned MIG Cricket Club and was regularly observed in the yard under his father's training. Arjun, unlike Sachin, which only got him attention for batting, focused on bowling, a unique part of the sport to him.
In India domestic debut of Arjun for Mumbai in 2020, Arjun made his domestic debut for Mumbai in 2020 but only moved from there to Goa in 2022 for a more substantial chance of success. The move paid off when he scored for Goa his maiden First-Class century (120 runs) of the same year, evidence of his batting prowess. Bowling-wise, he has provided consistent spells, bringing in wickets across formats. His tall frame and left-arm angle are a useful asset in longer formats, including T20 cricket.
- First Class: More than 600 runs, nearly 50 wickets.
- List A: More than 20 wickets with best figures of 4/30.
- T20: 35 or so wickets, including a best of 4/10.
Arjun began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians, which acquired him last year. Although injuries put a damper on his debut, he finally played this year against Kolkata Knight Riders. His games showed some promise: disciplined bowling, coming in swinging bats that were never used as anything but cranes. He started his IPL career in 2025 when, in 2025, he joined the Lucknow Super Giants, marking a fresh start of his new career in the same year. Already early in his career, though, he has picked up some wickets and his economy rate has improved.
The Tendulkar name is both a privilege and a burden to wear. The comparisons constantly weigh on Arjun, but he chooses to focus on bowling. One aspect is that his experience at Goa was truly a turning point for him, a fact that showed he could become an all-rounder. He's been playing Indian cricket and IPL more and further up and up as a professional ball player.
Arjun Tendulkar has a young career, but he’s obviously got a good deal going for him. He went from scoring a century in First-Class cricket to his IPL debut, and has made gradual advances. Despite the high expectations, Arjun’s identity story goes beyond that of Sachin Tendulkar’s son; it’s a story of becoming Arjun Tendulkar himself, the cricketer.
