The monsoon season transforms Karnataka landscapes into a beautiful sight, and so KSRTC has established special tours to the famous Jog Falls, one of India’s highest and most spectacular waterfalls, as part of the monsoon season of KSRTC’s tours. The idea is to provide travellers with a convenient and cheap chance to see the grandest waterfall in its full glory during the rainy season.
The special Jog Falls package has been expanded from Bengaluru only to many other districts of Karnataka, and this will enable tourists from different parts of the state to enjoy the scenic locations. The expanded service is from Bengaluru, Davangere, Challakere, Chitradurga, Holalkere, Hassan, Shivamogga, and Tumakuru.
Jog Falls in Shivamogga district is at its most beautiful during monsoon months when the Sharavathi River gushes down from a height of nearly 830 feet. The roaring waterfall surrounded by lush greenery attracts thousands of tourists every year. KSRTC has chosen these special packages for monsoon tourism because it is a nice family trip and its historical, religious and cultural sites are very close by.
The special monsoon package, introduced in August, will be offered on weekends and government holidays to allow travellers to plan short but memorable getaways. Depending on the departure location, passengers can travel in KSRTC’s Sleeper, Ashwamedha or Karnataka Sarige buses.
The Bengaluru package is one of the most comprehensive. Travellers can board a non-AC sleeper bus from Bengaluru at 11:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. At ₹3,300 per person, the package includes accommodation and visits to several major destinations including Varadahalli, Varamoola, Ikkeri, Keladi, Sagar, and Jog Falls.
For Davangere travellers, the Ashwamedha bus leaves at 6:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. The package is ₹600 and covers Sigandur, Ikkeri Fort, Varamoola and Jog Falls. In the same way, Challakere passengers can get a Karnataka Sarige bus package for ₹600. Chitradurga residents can join the tour for ₹500.
Holalkere travellers have a package for ₹450, and Hassan residents can get an Ashwamedha tour package to Jog Falls for ₹700. Shivamogga tourists can get a Sigandur, Varamoola, Ikkeri, Keladi and Jog Falls package for ₹450. On Fridays and Saturdays, tourists from Tumakuru can board a Karnataka Sarige bus for ₹1,000.
Aside from the mesmerising waterfall, the tour packages also include visits to some of Karnataka’s most revered and historic places. Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple, Ikkeri Aghoreshwara Temple, Keladi historical monuments, Varadahalli pilgrimage centre, and other places to visit are among the major tourist places to visit around the state and in the vicinity.
Such efforts not only boost domestic tourism but also boost local economies by increasing visitor footfall in smaller cities and destinations in smaller towns and tourist destinations.
