A 24-year-old married woman has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in Yellapur in Tumakuru Taluk of Karnataka. Police have arrested her husband, Srinivas. Sushmitha’s death is still being treated as a case of hanging, and her mother has filed a complaint that Sushmitha was murdered and her body was hanged to make it look like a suicide.
Sushmitha was originally from Honaganahatti near Tavarekere in Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district. She was married to Srinivas, who worked for a private company in Antharasanahalli district. They had a three-year-old girl. When the incident occurred, the family was residing in the Yellapur area of Tumakuru taluk. Sushmitha’s death has left her relatives in shock, and they say she had appeared to be happy when she returned home to her husband’s house shortly before.
Sushmitha travelled to her uncle’s house in Magadi, Ramanagara district, on Tuesday and returned on Wednesday to her husband’s house. But later that evening, there was a dispute at her uncle’s house, which prompted her relatives to call them. They received a call from the family to come to the hospital after a dispute, they said. When the relatives arrived, they found Sushmitha dead. The sequence of events that led to her death and the circumstances in which she was taken to the hospital are going to be part of the police investigation.
Sushmitha’s mother has said her daughter was killed and the body was hanged. This has prompted a police investigation into the possibility of foul play. But the accusation has not yet been independently proven, and Sushmitha’s death is still being investigated. Police will have to verify the family’s assertions, the events leading to the death, and what happened before that.
Srinivas is in police custody, and he will be questioned. The role he played, if any, in the incident will be examined in the investigation. The custody of a person for questioning does not automatically establish guilt, and allegations must be investigated through the legal process. Investigators will gather statements from relatives and other relevant individuals and look at the evidence surrounding the incident.
A case has been registered at Tumakuru Women’s Police Station. The exact cause of death and the reason behind the incident have not yet been officially established in the information available. The police investigation and any required medical and forensic examinations could provide more details.
The death also has implications for the future of the couple’s three-year-old girl who lost her mother. Parents will be in charge of the child’s immediate care and the support of family while the investigation is ongoing. The arrangements for the child are not clear so far, authorities say.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of Sushmitha’s death. Evidence from the investigation will be crucial in determining whether the death was a suicide or a criminal act. Until the evidence is examined and the investigation reaches a conclusion, the allegations against any individual should be treated as allegations rather than facts.
