According to a Gujarati Jagran report on October 27, 2026, the police destroyed 17,257 bottles seized during different operations in the past three months. The value of such seized stock was estimated to be ₹75.27 lakh.

The destruction was carried out on government land near the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Jamnagar after the legal procedures were completed.

Liquor seized in three months of police operations

The liquor destroyed during the operation had been seized in various cases registered by the three police divisions over the past three months.

The stock included foreign liquor and beer seized by the police following enforcement of Gujarat’s prohibition laws. After completing the legal formalities, police collected the seized bottles for disposal.

The total value of the destroyed stock was estimated to be around ₹75 lakh, which was a very large disposal operation involving confiscated liquor in the city.

Police action was carried out in accordance with the prescribed procedure rather than through an informal disposal process.

Court Orders and Legal procedures followed.

The destruction was carried out after the legal process was completed. Police used a bulldozer to crush the seized bottles and render the stock unusable.

Officials from the city administration and police department were present during the operation, including City Sub-Divisional Officer S.D. Barad, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayveersinh Jhala, and inspectors from the three police divisions and an inspector from the prohibition branch, according to the report.

The presence of the officials was part of the supervised disposal process for the confiscated material.

The action highlights how seized goods associated with prohibition cases can be disposed of after the relevant authorities complete the required legal formalities.

Gujarat’s Prohibition Laws

Gujarat is a dry state under which alcohol manufacture, sale, storage and consumption are generally prohibited under state law, subject to applicable permits and legal exceptions.

Police regularly conduct raids and enforcement operations to seize liquor allegedly stored, transported or sold in violation of these rules. The confiscated stock can be destroyed once permissions and legal processes are complete.

Such operations are intended to enforce the state’s prohibition laws and prevent seized liquor from re-entering circulation.

Police continue Enforcement Against Illegal Liquor

The destruction of 17,257 bottles represents the disposal of liquor seized by Jamnagar’s City-A, City-B and City-C divisions over a three-month period.

The estimated value of ₹75.27 lakh represents the size of the confiscated stock in the operation. But the destruction itself does not mean that every case that has been carried out with the seizures is complete.

The investigations and court proceedings are separate from the disposal of the seized material.

The October 27 operation adds to the recent enforcement activity reported in Jamnagar and underlines the continued focus on implementing Gujarat’s prohibition laws.
