The Kinetic DX+ electric scooter has been updated to make it more practical for everyday riders. The electric scooter now comes with a larger 3.1 kWh LFP battery (claimed IDC range of up to 132 km on a single charge). It also gets a more powerful motor and a bunch of convenience features geared towards daily urban commuting.
The updated Kinetic DX+ is above the standard DX 3 kWh version in the company’s lineup of electric scooters. The DX 3 kWh has a 3 kWh battery but the DX+ gets a 3.1 kWh unit. Kinetic has marketed the bigger-battery version as an option for buyers who want more range and equipment without moving away from the metal bodied design that goes with the DX nameplate.
Kinetic DX+ Battery and Range
The 3.1 kWh LFP battery is the biggest selling point of the Kinetic DX+. The company claims that under IDC testing conditions the scooter can cover up to 132 km but certified range figures and everyday riding range are not necessarily the same because traffic, rider weight, road conditions, speed and riding style all affect energy consumption.
Kinetic has stated that DX range can go up to 105–110 km in real world conditions. This figure may be more important for buyers who intend to use the scooter for regular commuting. Riders should look at their daily travel requirements instead of IDC figure when considering the scooter’s range.
Power is provided by a hub mounted BLDC motor with a peak output of 5.09 hp. The scooter has two riding modes (Range and Power) so riders can choose efficiency or performance as needed. K-Coast Tech system also allows energy to be recovered during deceleration for improved efficiency overall.
Charging and Features
Charging convenience is another area where the DX+ is geared towards everyday usability. Kinetic says that battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in about three hours; it also has the company’s Easy Charge system which makes charging easier for owners.
Another practical addition is Park Assist with Reverse. This can be useful in tight parking spaces or when the rider needs to move scooter backward into a corner. For an electric scooter that’s primarily intended for urban use this functionality could make routine parking and manoeuvring easier.
The Kinetic DX+ also has IP67 protection against water and dust (important for an electric two-wheeler in India where riders can get caught in heavy rain and wet roads during monsoon). Ground clearance on the scooter is 165 mm and it rides on tubeless tyres at both ends (12 inches) only.
Braking hardware is 220 mm front disc brake and 130 mm rear drum brake. DX+ also has 37 litres of under seat storage space for carrying everyday items. Telematics is part of the equipment package so it makes the electric scooter connected too.
Kinetic DX+ Price in India
The Kinetic DX+ 3.1 kWh is priced at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom) in India while the standard Kinetic DX with its 3kWh battery costs Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom). So there’s a Rs 10,000 price difference between the two variants.
The DX+ price also comes with retractable charging cable and telematics which makes it more valuable than the base spec model. Kinetic has announced festive benefits for buyers — Rs 3,000 benefit on DX+, Rs 2,000 on standard DX (extended warranty applicable), etc.
The DX+ will be available in five colours: Black, Silver, Blue, White and Red. The standard DX is also available in Black and Silver.
Should You Consider the Kinetic DX+?
The Kinetic DX+ could be for buyers looking for an electric scooter with usable range, practical features and a familiar metal bodied design. The 3.1 kWh LFP battery gives it more capacity than the standard DX while IDC range of 132 km on paper gives it useful advantage (the standard DX has 100 km).
The three-hour 0–80 per cent charging time, reverse assist, generous 37 litre storage capacity, connected telematics and IP67 protection all add to its everyday appeal but buyers should bear in mind that the expected real world range (105–110 km) will have to be factored into their commute.
At Rs 1.28 lakh ex-showroom the Kinetic DX+ is more expensive than the standard DX but the extra battery capacity and additional equipment might be worth it for riders who care more about range and convenience. Ultimately which variant you buy will depend on how much you travel daily, where charging facilities are available and what features a buyer considers essential.
