An under-construction building collapsed suddenly in Haryana’s Ambala district, killing four people and leaving several others feared buried under the rubble, as workers were at the site when the structure collapsed without warning, according to the local government. Search and rescue teams rushed to find those trapped under the rubble and save those who were still buried.
The collapse happened during working hours, officials said. Witnesses recalled a loud crashing sound before the partially built structure collapsed. In seconds, huge sections of concrete, steel, and construction material collapsed and trapped workers at the site. Local residents and workers rushed in before emergency services arrived.
At least four people were killed, and the rest were injured, the police said. Some of the injured workers were brought out of the rubble and taken to local hospitals. Medical teams are on alert to handle the extra casualties as search efforts continue.
Rescue personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, fire services, and district administration have all arrived at the site. Heavy machinery, cranes, excavators, and specialist rescue equipment have been deployed to remove debris very carefully.
