The Raid

The Nirvana Green Farmhouse in Ahmedabad's rural region was raided by police on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The Ahmedabad Rural Police conducted the raid after learning of an illegal liquor party. Along the way, police arrested 43 men and 38 women who had been caught drinking alcohol and using hookah in the farmhouse. Blood samples for all participants were taken and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for testing if there was also any involvement of drugs.

The Organisers

The party was orchestrated by Amit Pacheriwal, 49, a textile businessman in Mumbai. He orchestrated the event to mark the 25th wedding anniversary of his brother‑in‑law, Adarsh, who specializes in interiors and furniture. Amit reportedly helped arrange the liquor and hookah at the party. The farmhouse where the party went on is owned by Ravi, a pharmaceutical businessman. Investigators are now investigating whether Ravi had any knowledge of the illegal acts occurring at his residence.

Seized Items

The raid detected a significant amount of liquor and other items. Seven opened bottles of foreign liquor were found, along with three empty bottles and eight sealed bottles worth Rs 43,550. They also confiscated 70 glasses, 10 rubber pipe hookahs, eight varieties of hookah flavours and 33 plastic boxes with a hookah flavour. An additional 74 mobile phones valued at Rs 26,30,000 and 22 luxury cars worth over Rs 2 crore were seized. Total seized goods from the farmhouse totalled almost Rs 3 crore.

Police Statement

Omprakash Jat, Ahmedabad Rural Superintendent of Police, corroborated the raid. He told ABC the alcohol had been consumed at the farmhouse during Adarsh’s anniversary party and that Amit and Adarsh were the main organisers. A hookah supplier was also arrested. Blood samples on all 81 detainees have been taken and if forensic reports reveal drug use, strict action will be implemented under NDPS Act, Jat said.

Legal Action

Among the 81 detainees, 38 women were issued notices and released, and 43 men are still in police custody while investigations continue. Gujarat is a dry state that keeps alcohol consumption on a no-alcohol rule unless a permit permits it. And the police have made it clear that anyone found guilty will face legal proceedings, including those who provided the liquor and hookah.

Public Reaction

The episode sparked off lengthy discussion both in Gujarat and further afield. A shock to many is the fact that the very large-scale party could be arranged in such a dry state. The citizens have said they are disappointed because the rich often get away with breaking the law by putting on such private liquor parties. Businesspersons from Mumbai and Ahmedabad also took part with the news that liquor is smuggled into Gujarat. It is a case that just speaks volumes of how difficult it is to enforce prohibition laws and the danger of a gathering like this without permits.

This case is not a single case – that is not the case of one party. It also epitomizes the continuing problem in enforcing the prohibition laws in Gujarat. Illegal liquor parties continue to show up, often by high-status figures, despite draconian restrictions. The seizure of luxury cars, expensive mobile phones, and crores worth of things shows how extravagant these get-togethers can be. A police raid shows no one should be above the law, and even high-profile parties can experience serious consequences.

The Ahmedabad liquor party case stands as a major talking point in Gujarat. With 81 people arrested, crores worth of goods seized, forensic reports pending and 81 people taken into custody, the investigation isn't over there yet! For now for starters, this event serves as a cautionary tale in not breaking prohibition laws in Gujarat. So far these persons are detained, crores worth of commodities are seized, forensic reports have not yet been turned into reports that can be brought forward and no further investigation made into matters--they can't be left unresolved. Whether the organisers or participants will be severely punished based on those forensic results, or if they ever face punishment, will be further examination of investigation into what's happened by police through a court of law by any means. But one thing is clear: The case has already made a mark on the state’s public and highlighted the seriousness of alcohol prohibition in the state.
