AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the resignation announcement by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a major victory for democracy and for young people as well. His comments came a little while after Dharmendra Pradhan announced that he had sent his resignation letter to Narendra Modi.
Looking to supporters and responding to the development, Kejriwal congratulated students, young people, and citizens who had participated in the movement demanding accountability from the Education Ministry.

"Congratulations to all of you. Congratulations to the youth of our country. It is a matter of great joy that your struggle has borne fruit. Dharmendra Pradhan had to resign. This is a great victory for our democracy," Kejriwal said.
He also said the result showed the power of public participation in a democratic system. And people started losing faith in democratic institutions as governments no longer took public concerns seriously, he said.
"People in our country had begun to lose faith in democracy. They felt that governments don't listen. People would raise their voices before the government and plead with folded hands, but the government never listened," he said.
The latest development indicates that sustained public demonstrations and peaceful protests are what is needed to influence governance when people remain united and persistent, Kejriwal had said. He credited students and young protesters for keeping pressure on the authorities and keeping their points in the national spotlight.
The resignation follows days of nationwide demonstrations involving examination system problems and calls for accountability in the Education Ministry. Student organizations, political parties, and activist groups held protests in multiple cities, with Delhi at the heart of the movement.
