Bengaluru Faces Petrol and Diesel Shortage After LPG Crisis, Long Queues at Fuel Stations

As the fuel crisis of Bengaluru escalates further, this city finds itself short of petrol and diesel and has barely scratched the surface, a few days since the first Auto LPG crisis.

The fuel shortage will be worst at the HPCL and BPCL fuel-centred stations, according to the reports, and petrol stocks have been running low for two days now.

Crunching at the Big Fuel Stations

Some of the HPCL and BPCL petrol stations are having difficulty keeping the fuel, and the queue at stations was so long that motorists got anxious. Busier city commuters will tell you they’ve traversed multiple stations seeking fuel but have found empty pump locations or simply not enough.

So far, the fuel supply in the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) outlets, paradoxically, is better maintained than in the other stores, providing a certain relief. But that imbalance has also added massive pressure on IOC pumps that have been swamped, because of which they’ve waited and waited longer now.

From Private fuel stations to Public ones

It is not just the discrepancy between prices that is causing sudden, acute pressure on public sector fuel stations. Private fuel companies, including Shell plc, Reliance Jio-bp and Nayara Energy, have added costs recently, as fuel prices have gone up, reports said.

That has caused price-conscious customers to shift away from private sites and towards government-operated pumps, increasing demand. This surprise shift was already working to cover the shortfall of HPCL and BPCL stations.

Depot Supply Delays Deteriorate Situation

Supply chain disruptions have frustrated owners of fuel stations. Depot dealers complain about the late delivery of fuel but face lakhs of rupees in advance for their payment. The delay has simply compounded uncertainty with no communication from the oil companies. A few of the pumps said that they had purchased some inventory on certain days, but the shortage has not matched the rise in orders.

Echoes of the Last LPG Crisis

These conditions follow recent spikes in the prices of Auto LPG and commercial cylinders in Bengaluru and have already infiltrated everyday life. Rising LPG prices had driven the restaurants to pass their prices on, adding to fears of rising living costs, including PG accommodation. Thanks to the petrol and diesel shortages now, residents are desperate to escape another turbulent one. Photos of long queues for refills of LPG could soon be filling up at fuel stations, adding to the annoyance.

Worried And Worried Out by the Commuters

The shortage has already put the daily commuters mainly on personal and commercial transportation in a deep panic. And many are afraid that if the supply can’t be quickly restored, it will disrupt work schedules, logistics and vital services. Need for Immediate Clarity.

Oil companies haven’t completed their plans yet, and the rest feels uncertain. Timing action, clear communication and fast recovery of the supply chains are crucial to avoiding a crisis, experts say. So far, Bengaluru motorists are scrambling, praying the fuel doesn’t disappear until quite soon.
