In a deeply disturbing incident that has raised serious concerns over the safety of female healthcare workers, a man was arrested for allegedly filming nurses while they were changing clothes at a prominent private hospital in Bengaluru. The accused, described by witnesses as behaving like a "psycho," was caught red-handed by the hospital staff and handed over to the police.
The Incident
The incident took place in the staff quarters/changing area of a well-known private hospital. According to reports, several nurses had grown suspicious over the past few days regarding unusual movements near their private changing room.
On the day of the arrest, a staff member noticed a mobile phone positioned discreetly near a gap in the door/ventilation of the changing room. Upon raising an alarm, the hospital security and other staff members intercepted the individual who was attempting to flee the spot.
Modus Operandi
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused had been frequenting the hospital under the guise of being a visitor or a patient's relative. He allegedly used his smartphone to record videos of female nursing staff during their shift changes. Upon inspecting his device, the police reportedly found several आपत्तिजनक (objectionable) clips, indicating that this was not a one-time offense but a recurring act.
Police Action
The hospital management immediately alerted the local police station. The officers arrived promptly, seized the mobile phone as evidence, and took the accused into custody.
- Charges: A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including voyeurism and outraging the modesty of a woman.
- Investigation: The police are currently investigating whether the accused shared these videos on any social media platforms or adult websites.
Outrage Over Women’s Safety
The incident has sparked outrage among the nursing community in Bengaluru. "We work long hours to save lives, and to think that our basic privacy is being violated in our own workplace is terrifying," said a senior nurse at the hospital.
The hospital administration has promised to enhance security measures, including the installation of more robust doors, restricted access to staff-only zones, and increased patrolling by female security guards.
