The case was lodged at HSR Layout Police Station and an investigation is ongoing. She described the inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment with an employee of the hospital, “a woman accountant.”

The complainant, who described working at the hospital in the last nine months, said that the assailant often made sexually inappropriate comments toward her. He also sent her personal messages, text messages of “miss you,” and phone calls where he allegedly spoke inappropriately, she said.

It progressed to make the woman feel unsafe at work, according to a report. There was also friction in her personal life as the harassment took place, too, as her husband learned of the messages and conversations they were having, causing them to have fights at home, she wrote in the complaint.

Her harassment continued and, in the long term, rendered her unable to hold onto a job there, she said. She eventually reported it to police, and a formal police complaint against the accused. Police were confirmed to register a FIR and also a notification was sent out to Dr. Rakesh Jayaprakash who was called into the station by security forces to respond to questions on her charges through the FIR.

Investigators are now examining digital evidence, such as texts, messages and call logs, authorities said. The case was being considered seriously and was being given due process and would enable an impartial investigation, senior police officers said. Other officers, who also reported that they emphasized workplace safety, and appealed to people being harassed, said they made the point to report the grievance without fear.

It is an important reminder that workplace harassment is still to be watched, even at institutions like health care facilities. In order to enforce a sturdier internal grievance remedy, and workers to get to know their rights, the experts say. For now, conviction is not determined, though the inquiry is still underway.

All claims will also be carefully fact-checked, officials have said on a pre-trial basis before entering into any courtroom procedure. The case has also sparked widespread local panic about bad professional behavior in the workplace, and responsibility. Law enforcement should also keep collecting data and statements as investigations establish and what happens next, we continued.
