A major traffic advisory for commuters in Bengaluru, the Peenya Elevated Flyover will remain fully closed for five days starting April 13, the authority said while officials carry out critical load testing after work completed recently. Officials said those closures were performed when cable repair works to the elevated corridor were complete, according to the Peenya Traffic Police website. In Phase III, load testing is conducted on all structures of the flyover for structural safety and future operability prior to its return for the public service.
Closure Timeline
It prohibits all vehicular movement at the flyover from 5:00 AM on April 13 to 11:00 AM on April 17. Any vehicles in any condition during this time period shall not be allowed to cross the elevated stretch.
Reason for Closure
The load testing method is a vital method for evaluating the strength and performance of the repaired cables and the entire structure, officials said. Because of the daily flow of traffic the Peenya Elevated Flyover can experience before it resumes service, safety should be taken into account as a first decision.
