A motorist was threatened with a lethal weapon in broad daylight at a busy traffic signal in an unprecedented escalation of road violence in India’s Silicon Valley. The Incident at the Signal

The clash had begun like so many in Bengaluru’s crowded traffic a small confrontation between a car driver and a biker waiting for a traffic signal. But it took a violent turn just seconds later. The biker, who was already carrying a dagger (dragger) tucked into his waistband, suddenly dismounted from his vehicle. Out of anger, he lunged to the car driver and brought the weapon to the driver, brandishing it savagely.

Caught on Dashcam

On the vehicle’s dashboard camera, the entire ordeal was captured. The video depicts the suspect, identified by his bike’s registration number KA53JB3274, screaming abuse and employing the knife to scare the driver through the window. All of the registration details point to the vehicle registered under the name Arbaaz Khan. The victim was stuck inside the car, so probably this hadn’t ended in a real accident. The suspect finally left the scene on his bike as the lights shifted, but did not leave the driver and the adjacent commuters alone.

Police Response and Public Response

The footage was uploaded to local media, tagging both the Bengaluru City Police (BCP) and the Whitefield Division authorities. Some members of the public have raised grave alarm about the prevalence of such “rowdyism” incidents on city streets.

  • Police Action: The Whitefield police have begun a preliminary investigation on the viral dashcam footage.
  • Tracking the Suspect: We can track down the suspect through the registration number KA53JB3274 and check the address; to do so, authorities will do some investigation to determine if Arbaaz Khan was in fact the one riding the bike or if someone else was using the vehicle at the time of the crime.
  • Legal Charges: A case will likely be lodged under criminal offences, probably under the Arms Act, on account of the use of a deadly weapon in a public arena, sources say.

Road Safety and Vigilance

This episode underscores the importance of dashcams during today’s commute. Without the digital evidence it would have been a “he-said she-said” situation, with police unable to act against someone so dangerous. Once again the authorities asked citizens to stay calm in traffic disputes and report incidents safely through the Namma 112 emergency helpline as soon as possible, not talk to aggressive people.
