The deceased person was Tapan Nath (28), a Tripura native in northeastern India. He lived in Bengaluru for the last year and worked at The Bier Library, a popular pub in Koramangala.

Tapan was reported to have gone to a party after being invited by a group of friends, and was allegedly assaulted, and his family said the private parts of his body were badly injured. The exact circumstances behind the alleged attack are not known yet, and investigators are trying to establish the sequence of events.

Tapan, despite the pain, was alleged not to tell his family about the incident. He instead went to a private hospital in Bengaluru for treatment, according to his family. Doctors treated the injuries, but according to the family’s report, the injuries had long-term effects on him physically and emotionally.

Family members claim that after getting medical treatment, Tapan became angsty over the loss of his masculinity. They believe the physical trauma and emotional suffering drove him into severe depression.

A few days later, Tapan was found dead after allegedly hanging himself in the room where he was staying in Viveknagar, Eejipura, Bengaluru. Police rushed to the place and took the body for legal formalities.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at Bowring Hospital to determine the cause of death and help to establish facts surrounding the case.

The family filed a formal complaint against Tapan to Viveknagar Police Station after the incident and alleged that the assault by his friends led to his death. Police have received the complaint, and the investigation is underway to find out who was involved and which criminal offences were committed.

Investigators will be able to review medical records, ask doctors who treated the victim to give statements, and interview any friends who were at the party and check any available CCTV footage or digital evidence that may help reconstruct the events.

Police have not yet released the identities of the individuals named in the complaint and haven't said if any arrests have been made. The investigation is still in its early stages, and all allegations will be thoroughly investigated before any further legal action is taken.

There are serious concerns about violence among acquaintances and the psychological effects of traumatic injuries. Mental health doctors often stress that when people are in emotional distress after physical trauma, they should be treated very soon and not wait for medical treatment.

Authorities are trying to avoid speculation while the investigation is underway, and they say they will continue to gather evidence.
