Roshibina Devi secured her second consecutive silver medal at the Asian Games after finishing runner-up in the women's 60kg sanda event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, September 24.
In the gold medal match, Roshibina faced China's Zhang Xiaoyu but fell 0-2. Zhang won both rounds by identical 5-0 scores to claim the gold medal.
Roshibina Adds Another Asian Games Medal
The silver medal continues Roshibina’s remarkable Asian Games record. She won a bronze medal at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.
Her latest silver now means she has won medals at three consecutive editions of the Asian Games, making her the first Indian woman to achieve this feat in wushu.
It also gives her back-to-back silver medals in the 60kg category.
Tough Final Against Zhang Xiaoyu
Roshibina could not carry the momentum from her earlier contests in the final against Zhang.
The Chinese fighter dominated both rounds and secured 5-0 victories in each, winning the contest 2-0. Roshibina had to settle for silver after a strong campaign in the competition.
Her route to the final included victories over Macao's Chu Man Sin in the quarter-final and Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas in the semifinal. She won the semifinal 2-0 to earn a place in the gold-medal match.
Victory Over World Champion on Road to Final
Roshibina also produced an important win against Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, the 2023 world champion, during her campaign in Japan.
Her performances helped her reach another Asian Games final and secure India's latest medal in the wushu competition.
Another Milestone for Indian Wushu
Roshibina's achievement adds to India's growing medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games. Reports on Thursday said her silver was India's 14th medal of the Games at that stage.
For Roshibina, the medal represents another significant milestone in a career that has already produced three successive Asian Games medals.
Despite missing out on gold, her latest performance maintains her place among India's most consistent Asian Games wushu performers.
