Bengaluru’s savior, Namma Metro, has called out an important progress for commuters this weekend. With the announcement cheer-cheering fitness and early morning commuters, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will shift its on Sunday services to 5:00 AM on the 1st of March 2026.
Namma Metro normally opens Sunday services at 7:00 AM, which is 2 hours later than the normal weekday service time. But this Sunday that is approaching is an exception, designed to support a gigantic state-level sports event. Promoting and funding the 'Karnataka State Police Run'.
We will commence services early because we are part of the Karnataka State Police (KSP) Run 3rd edition in the state. This special annual event gained big traction in 2024 when it began on the famous Vidhana Soudha on Sunday morning.
The running has two primary groups:
- Timed 10K Run: For seasoned and dedicated runners.
- Awareness 5K Run: This is open to people seeking fitness and community.
As the event is scheduled to attract more than 10,000 participants, the BMRCL is offering early morning access allowing runners from all areas of the city to visit the location on time, without taking private transportation, from Whitefield to Challaghatta and Madavara to Silk Institute.
Service Details: Available for All Lines
The 5 am hours are not limited to just one route. BMRCL was told that the first trains would be departing from all terminal stations using the Purple, Green, and Yellow Lines jointly at all available points.
- Purple Line: The lines consist of services from Whitefield (Kadugodi) and Challaghatta.
- Green Line: Madavara (BIEC) and Silk Institute.
- Yellow Line: Services Bommasandra, R.V. Road. For the event, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Station will be the main arrival stations (Vidhana Soudha).
An Exercise in Public Convenience
BMRCL also promotes a “Green Bengaluru” by cutting down on the number of cars on the road as the event proceeds, along with supporting the police department's effort by pushing out the timings. Between 6am and 10am, participants are encouraged to go using the metro to avoid traffic diversions or parking areas near Cubbon Park and Vidhana Soudha. It has to be a regular Sunday, after about 5:00 until morning, the trains will run.
