Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta donated blood on September 17, 2026, as part of a mega blood donation campaign organised in the national capital to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
The blood donation drive was organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a month-long public service campaign announced by the Delhi government. Gupta participated in the campaign together with other participants and members of her cabinet.
The event took place at the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi, where the Delhi government organised the blood donation camp as one of several programmes marking the Prime Minister’s birthday.
Mega Blood Donation Camp in Delhi
The blood donation drive was planned as a major public service initiative. The Delhi government’s earlier announcement was that the September 17 campaign had a target of collecting 2,500 units of blood in a single day.
The Indian Red Cross Society’s blood-donation schedule also lists a voluntary blood donation camp at Thyagaraj Stadium on September 17, starting at 10 a.m., with an estimated 500 donors.
The programme was part of a wider programme of health camps, plantation drives, cleanliness activities and other public welfare measures.

Seva Sankalp Abhiyan Begins
The Delhi government launched the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan on September 17. The campaign is going on until October 17.
According to Doordarshan News, the campaigns include blood donation drives, health check-ups for senior citizens, worker registration, plantation programmes and other welfare activities.
The government also announced projects and foundation stones worth ₹13,820 crore during the month-long campaign.
Other Birthday Programmes
The blood donation campaign was among the events organised in Delhi on the occasion of Modi’s birthday.
The day's programmes also included a 108-kund yajna, the launch of the Namo Shramik Seva Kendra, and plans to light 1.25 lakh diyas at Kartavya Path.
The Delhi government also announced the launch of a State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation platform to promote organ donation registration.
