Hardik Pandya may become one of the biggest names in the IPL 2027 trade market, and a number of these clubs are looking at acquiring the Mumbai Indians captain.
Cricbuzz claims that talks around a potential trade had generated a lot of buzz in the lead-up to the IPL season. However, these are only the possibilities and discussions, not actual trades.
Pandya’s future with Mumbai Indians has become a big talking point of late, and many of the teams are currently looking at different player-swap combinations, too.
Here are the five teams that are reportedly interested in the star all-rounder.
Delhi Capitals: Axar Patel-Pandya Swap?
Delhi Capitals are among the franchises that are exploring a deal for Hardik Pandya.
One possibility is Axar Patel moving to Mumbai Indians in exchange for Pandya.
Axar’s potential swap is interesting because Axar has a very different skill set. He is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder who can contribute with bat and ball.
For Mumbai Indians, a player like Axar could further enhance their spin-bowling resources while giving Delhi an experienced Indian pace-bowling all-rounder.
Such a deal, however, would be a matter of both the franchises and players doing so.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Big interest in Pandya
Kolkata Knight Riders are also interested in bringing Pandya into their squad.
However, the franchise is said to be reluctant to part with one of its key Indian players as part of a potential trade.
One possibility has been a deal with Cameron Green.
The availability of the Australian all-rounder could become a big factor in deciding if such a proposal develops further.
International commitments and schedules also influence whether or not there will be a trade involving an overseas player.
Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal Swap?
Most intriguing is Rajasthan Royals. The franchise seems to be interested in acquiring Hardik Pandya and may even offer young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal as part of the deal.
Jaiswal is one of India’s most exciting young batters, while Pandya provides a rare combination of batting, pace bowling and leadership experience.
A direct swap of two top Indian players would therefore be one of the biggest trade deals in IPL history if it were ever done.
But there has been no official confirmation that such a deal has been agreed.
Lucknow Super Giants: Nicholas Pooran in Exchange?
Lucknow Super Giants are another franchise interested in Pandya.
The proposed scenario is that Nicholas Pooran moves in the opposite direction.
Pooran is one of the most destructive T20 batters in world cricket, whereas Pandya provides an all-round package and Indian player value.
For Mumbai Indians, such a deal could provide another explosive middle-order option.
For LSG, adding Pandya will help to develop depth in their batting and pace bowling options.
At present, however, the reported discussions are seen to be at a very early stage.
Chennai Super Kings: No Immediate Interest
Chennai Super Kings have also been linked with Pandya in the wider trade speculation.
However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has said the franchise is not considering a trade for the Mumbai Indians star.
CSK’s immediate focus is reportedly on its coaching setup, overseas head coach and leadership structure.
That does not necessarily mean a future move is impossible, but as things stand, there appears to be no active Pandya trade plan from the Chennai franchise.
Why Is Hardik Pandya such a valuable Trade Target?
Pandya's appeal is straightforward.
A genuine Indian all-rounder who can contribute as a middle-order batter and pace bowler is extremely valuable in the IPL.
Indian players who can play multiple roles are especially important because franchises have restrictions around their overseas combinations.
Pandya also brings captaincy experience, big-match exposure and familiarity with high-pressure T20 cricket.
That combination makes him a good target for franchises in the business planning to restructure their squads.
What happens next?
The reported interest from several teams does not mean Pandya will definitely leave Mumbai Indians.
A trade in the IPL would depend on many possible factors (for example, franchise negotiations, player consent, contract terms and the IPL regulations).
Mumbai Indians would also have to decide whether they want to retain their captain and if an incoming player would better fit their squad balance.
For the other franchises, the financial and tactical implications of acquiring Pandya would also need to be carefully considered.
IPL 2027 Trade Market Could Get Explosive
If even one of the proposals turns into a trade, it could change the IPL 2027 landscape dramatically.
A Pandya move involving Axar Patel, Cameron Green, Yashasvi Jaiswal or Nicholas Pooran would have severe implications for multiple franchises.
Hardik Pandya, for now, is still a Mumbai Indians player and these rumors of a trade should be viewed as speculation until a formal announcement is made.
The big question going into the IPL 2027 build-up is so simple: Will Hardik Pandya continue leading Mumbai Indians, or will one of the league’s biggest franchises be able to make a massive trade?
And the answer could become one of the most closely watched developments of the next IPL season.
