In a statement, the production company referred to Karuppu as Suriya’s “biggest box office blast” and said the film has now earned more than ₹300 crore worldwide and is now a huge blockbuster. The team reported that the movie has earned ₹194.55 crore in gross collections in India with net collection of ₹168.15 crore and has been a fantastic hit both in the domestic and abroad market.

He said his movie Mookuthi Amman dealt with divinity vs. fake godmen, and Karuppu was about faith versus the judiciary. In the next film, he would like to put politics into the conversation, and why and how it’s linked with religion in it.
RJ Balaji also said that the sequel is still conceptual and would take time to develop. He did not want to rush the project and would only do it if he felt he could achieve what the audience expects. The right time to revisit the franchise is when viewers have finished and moved on from the first film, and take in the second film and what will happen to the franchise and why.
Karuppu is still in a supernova of theatrical output, and there is hope for a sequel, and the franchise has a future to look forward to. For now, the film is at ₹300 crore and has a huge number of fans all over the world.
