BESCOM announced that Bengaluru residents will experience temporary power disruption as BESCOM will be experiencing a power outage on July 24 and July 25, 2026 due to the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) is planning an outage for Bengaluru on 24th and 25th, 2026. The shutdown is to enable the maintenance and infrastructure upgrade work to be carried out by KPTCL to be performed as well.
According to BESCOM's public notice, electricity will be shut down in several localities and businesses in those areas are advised to prepare for it.
The outage will be from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM both days. BESCOM says the shutdown is necessary to maintain the reliability and smoothness of the power distribution network. Regular maintenance of substations, transmission lines, and other electrical infrastructure is crucial to avoid unexpected breakdowns and ensure reliable service in the future.
As per the notice, maintenance work will be carried out at 66/11 kV Upparahalli Power Station and feeder lines. Due to the technical nature of the work, power supply will be temporarily interrupted in some localities.
The affected areas are probably Katriguppe, Banashankari, Hosakerehalli, Girinagar, Hanumanthanagar, Srinivasanagar, Channammanakere Achukattu, some parts of Jayanagar and surrounding residential and commercial areas. In addition, BESCOM also indicated that feeder-connected localities will experience intermittent disruptions depending on the progress of the maintenance work.
The shutdown is part of a preventive maintenance plan to improve Bengaluru’s power supply system. Rapid urbanisation in the city and the increased demand for electricity mean periodic upgrades and inspections are now required to maintain a reliable power supply system.
Residents should charge their electronic devices, have backup power arrangements for critical equipment and plan for the outage period accordingly. Businesses dependent on electricity, such as IT offices, retail firms, schools, and healthcare facilities, should take care of their equipment to minimise impacts.
BESCOM has also asked the public for cooperation during the maintenance work. Despite the fact that all efforts will be made to complete the work within the planned timeframe, technical challenges or weather conditions may also affect restoration, the utility said.
Bengaluru is still making huge infrastructure upgrades in many sectors. Modernisation projects, preventive maintenance, network strengthening, and other energy sector activities such as power utilities are increasing to cater for the growing residential and industrial needs of the city.
Consumers seeking additional information regarding the outage can contact BESCOM customer support or monitor updates through the company's website and social media. Residents can see local news about restoration times for power restoration through the local announcement to get information on times of power restoration.
While temporary outages can cause inconvenience, officials say this maintenance work is key for Bengaluru’s millions of consumers to see a healthier, more reliable, and efficient electricity supply system for Bengaluru’s millions of people.
