Bikaner restaurant at Gaur City Mall in Greater Noida served bad, stale food when a woman arrived. There was anger on the internet that it should have been a safe food policy as it would then lead to food spoilage, food poisoning. A food safety and hygiene failure is one matter that we want to know what the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) does, no questions.
And there was a bad odor, a bad taste, the customer described that they had been served and they smelled. And eating that kind of food puts people’s health at risk but we have so much evidence. She's so angry the people’s health has not improved because of such adulterated food and so, the same has been happening to them in a restaurant chain.
The scrutiny of such Bikaner food outlets does not stop; it even came under the microscope in August 2025 when Bikaner restaurant kitchens were searched by the Food Safety Department and found expired items, including cashews, oregano, and vinegar. Another establishment in Ghaziabad had served unhygienic food, as well, and raids and sample collection took place in May 2025. These repeated infringements suggest more surveillance is necessary.
But customers got angry at the new complaint. “Where is FSSAI?” was the rage on social media and there was a reaction among readers who wanted to see a lot more action taken against restaurants that harm public health. And people are worried about the lack of accountability when it comes to food poisoning, with people posting here and here where they’ve worried and in an online posting about it they say people say.
Food safety is an ethical fundamental right. Serving stale or adulterated food is one of the causes of serious health problems (sickness with stomachs and death). This undermines trust in restaurant chains and points in breach of regulation. It’s a reminder to those in power the need for tighter oversight and fines. For us citizens, it’s an awareness exercise or lesson in staying attentive and telling the authorities.
Finally, the recent Bikaner restaurant accident in Gaur City Mall has raised again the question of food safety in India. They’ve already been notified about such violations and we have a need for more tough law and order so we can follow up. The public will also expect FSSAI and the restaurant chains to take the responsibility of cleaning up or public health being ensured not only in India.
