The Jaswan Pragpur area is the most striking example in this regard, as the so-called dry Nakki Khadd has turned into a fast-flowing stream after heavy rains. Residents say the khadd, usually completely dry during much of the year, is now carrying a lot of water. Jaswan Pragpur residents thought the situation was unusual, and the khadd is rarely seen flowing with such force. Local authorities have advised commuters to take care and avoid crossing waterlogged areas of the road where the depth and speed of the current can be very difficult to discern.
The heavy rainfall has not been limited to Jaswan Pragpur only. There are some areas in Himachal Pradesh where there is heavy rainfall, resulting in water accumulation within the city and increased pressure on drainage systems. Authorities are also monitoring landslide-prone areas to check the safety of people, as heavy rainfall can affect soil stability in mountainous terrain and lead to road blockages.
Monsoon rains are a crucial source of water for Himachal Pradesh, helping to replenish reservoirs, rivers, and groundwater. But there are challenges even during periods of very heavy rain. The overflowing Nakki Khadd is just another example of how quickly the weather can change during the monsoon season. What is typically a dry channel has turned into a powerful watercourse within a couple of hours, showing the extreme rainfall in the area.

Residents are being advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from swollen water bodies, and report any emergencies to local officials.
