Somarao had played with his son for some time before taking him away, and family members were unaware of where he was taking the child. When the boy did not come home, relatives started to worry. Police responded to the complaint and began searching for the child. Search teams were called out from the fire and emergency services department, and water and recovery teams were sent to the reservoir area.
