India’s rising boxing star Jadumani Singh Mandengbam had a masterclass in the ring on Sunday and secured a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman to qualify for the men’s 55kg boxing quarterfinals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
A Masterclass in Control and Defense. Jadumani was totally in control from the opening bell to the final gong. The Indian pugilist was just that good at fast hand speed, explosive combinations and disciplined defensive footwork; his opponent was beaten in all three rounds. Rehman was unable to create any momentum for a comeback against the tactical genius of the Manipuri boxer.
Jadumani's official judges' scorecards reflected Jadumani's dominance. Three judges scored him 30-27 and the other two awarded him a 29-28 scorecard, ensuring a clean sweep victory on points. This marks Jadumani's second consecutive 5-0 unanimous decision win in Glasgow, after his impressive opening-round victory over Scotland's Cullen in Round of 32.

Jadumani’s credentials are well-established; he won the gold medal and the coveted “Best Boxer” award at the 2026 Senior National Boxing Championship. He has previously represented India at the World Boxing Cup, World Championships and Asian Boxing Championships and has proved that he can perform well under pressure.

The journey doesn’t stop here for the young Indian star. Jadumani will return to the ring for his high-stakes quarterfinal match-up on July 28 at 7:45 PM (local time). He will meet the winner of Round of 16 match-up between South Africa and Zambia and he will be one win from taking home a medal and becoming the winner for himself and India. As the boxing tournament enters its decisive knockout stage, it will be all eyes on Jadumani as he looks to punch his way closer to gold in Glasgow.
