As Bigg Boss Kannada’s high-octane 12th season comes to a close, host Kichcha Sudeep made a bracing wake-up call for the last eight contestants. With the grand finale on next Sunday and a mid-week elimination approaching, Sudeep’s “Saturday Panchayat” examined individuality, or lack of it, in the house.
The ‘Umbrella’ Metaphor: Kavya Under Fire
At one of the episode’s most poignant moments, Sudeep hit the scene with a sharp metaphor, accusing some contestants of “becoming an umbrella for others” — hiding behind someone else’s personality instead of bringing their own. This critique was made against Kavya, who got their biggest target.
Although it was the penultimate week, the audience and some even her housemates continue to identify her completely with Gilli, Sudeep said. In the house the impression is that Kavya has climbed Gilli’s coattails to that point, and cannot play on her own. When working with Ashwini, Kavya observed that the entire house was supporting, which Ashwini mentioned as unfair "group support" to Sudeep. Kavya denied it as dependency, but Kiccha was more adamant:
“Kavya, you’re a good player; you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t. But you’ve refused to be visible. Don't be someone's umbrella. You should appreciate Ashwini for challenging you this week — she made your true self come out."
Dhanush and Rakshita Are in Heat
Kavya wasn’t the only one warned. The same advice of “umbrella” applied equally to the younger Dhanush, who more often than not was portrayed as playing in the shadows of strong personalities, Sudeep said. The host also issued a “class” to Rakshita, sternly. Sudeep got into her with "interference in people’s gameplay for friendship." He specifically highlighted her over-friendliness towards Gilli and Raghu, even as he argued that she was doing so in order to cut other contestants off from them. “Let them play their game; you don’t have to play it for them,” Sudeep said pointedly.
Road to the Finale
The stakes are even higher now that the house count will drop to seven on Sunday night. The last week will start with:
- The Final Seven: The final week is for only the elite few.
- Mid-Week Shock: A surprising elimination is set for the middle of next week.
- Grand Finale: Bigg Boss Kannada 12 winner is crowned next Sunday.
Now, with Sudeep's warnings ringing in their ears, the contestants must decide whether or not to step outside into the "rain." Then they must show their true selves or face exile just steps away from the trophy.
