The disturbing CCTV video that has gone viral on social media has drawn widespread outrage and raised concerns over the safety of children.
There seems to be child-friendly scenes on a street in Pakistan (video taken by a man who I am not sure who is in the video where children run around and chase each other and the child and boy play in the street and the man is at his side rather than going away.
A little girl running near him in the game at one point runs close to him, the child is seen making what seems to be inappropriate physical contact with the child as the moment passes.
The girl takes a few seconds to think about what had happened then returns to play with the other children. We see the man who has remained in the same place and not leave the area, according to video footage from the CCTV footage that many people have seen.
He is seen adjusting or opening up his trousers and making movements that have led to speculation on social media as to what his intention is.
We can't definitively identify the exact nature of his behaviour from the video alone. The CCTV clip spread quickly across social media platforms including X and created an explosion of public anger and condemnation.
Thousands of people expressed surprise at the incident and demanded swift action against anyone who was found guilty of crimes against children. They called for better child protection measures in public places and stronger penalties for people who hurt children.
The viral footage has also rekindled conversations around child safety in public places. Child rights advocates have long maintained that children need to be taught personal boundaries and parents should be vigilant, and the matter of suspicious behaviour should be reported to law enforcement.

They say knowledge, vigilance and police assistance are critical to preventing such incidents and protecting children. At the same time, experts have advised the public to be careful when sharing viral videos online.
Because short videos also lack context, they suggest not to jump to conclusions or talk about things that are not true before fact-based investigations have been conducted. It is very important to ensure that justice is done correctly and that there is not misinformation, and for facts to be verified.
The incident has brought to light the need for stronger child protection systems.
For many people, through better surveillance, the public’s awareness campaigns or the effective enforcement of law, safeguarding children should be at the heart of safety for the population and governments alike.
