In a major enforcement operation, the Kukatpally Police in Hyderabad carried out raids at two OYO hotels located in the Alluri Trade Complex and arrested 11 people over alleged illegal activities. The inspections took place on August 18 as part of ongoing operations to prevent any unlawful activity in commercial establishments and ensure public safety.
According to police, officers conducted surprise checks at the two hotels after receiving information on illegal activity taking place at the locations. During the operation, 12 people were found in total at the two hotels. After verification and preliminary investigation, 11 people were taken into custody for further investigation.
Police seized several items from the hotel, including seven smartphones and six condoms. The seized materials would also form part of the ongoing investigation of the activities happening at the hotels, officials said. But police have not publicly disclosed the identities of those detained or detailed charges to be brought against them.
The hotel owner was not found during the raid and is currently absconding, the authorities said. The man is being sought. The hotel management is now investigating if or when the illegal activities took place on the property.
The raid was conducted in the presence of Kukatpally Police Station personnel who have beefed up their monitoring of hotels, lodges, and other commercial establishments in the area. Law enforcement and other district and central government agencies have also been conducting similar inspections in Hyderabad in recent months to guarantee that hospitality establishments are compliant with legal requirements and do not become hubs for unlawful activity.
Police officials emphasised that hotel operators are required to maintain the correct records of guests at the hotel, verify identification documents, and ensure that their facilities are not exploited for any illegal activity and are not operated in violation of laws. Any business that is believed to have been involved or did not take action against them would be found guilty of illegal activity, and those employees would be punished.

The operation once again shows how much the hotel owners and management staff need to be on their toes. Based on intelligence inputs and public complaints, law enforcement agencies regularly check on the hotels to keep residents and visitors safe.
The Kukatpally Police called on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious or illegal activity happening in their neighbourhood. “Public participation is essential in protecting and maintaining law and order, and therefore the police need to respond fast,” said the police.
The police also reassured the public that investigations into the matter are ongoing. Evidence gathered by the search team during the raid is still being examined, digital devices taken from the site, and statements from those arrested will be gathered, the police said.
The Kukatpally and KPHB areas welcomed the police action with a view that regular inspections of commercial establishments would deter illegal activities and create a safer environment. Residents also have insisted that businesses that are not in compliance with regulations be more strongly regulated.
Kukatpally Police have made it clear that they will hold any breaches of the law to account. They have also urged people to contact them directly to report suspicious activities and assured that all legitimate tips would be investigated very promptly.
Police will update the case as it becomes further investigated and any charges are filed, and the search for the missing hotel owner will continue.
